TAPS

As a final tribute to our veterans, the playing of "Taps" has long been recognized as a unique American tradition.  Since 1999, the Department of Defense has been required by law to to play taps, fold the U.S. flag, and present the flag to the next of kin at military funerals if such services are requested.

This final salute at military funerals by a minimum of two uniformed military members should be requested as soon as possible after the death of the veteran to allow for effective coordination of Honor Guard services.

We recommend that all eligibility documentation including a copy of military discharge paperwork be available in order to expedite the preparation of Honor Guard scheduling.
